American League All-Star manager Ron Washington of the Texas Rangers and National League All-Star manager Tony La Russa today announced the managers who will serve as their coaches at the 83rd All-Star Game, to be played on Tuesday, July 10th at Kauffman Stadium in Kansas City.
La Russa has named Milwaukee Brewers manager Ron Roenicke and New York Mets manager Terry Collins as his N.L. coaches.  La Russa's coaches with the 2011 World Series Champion St. Louis Cardinals - Dave Duncan (pitching), Derek Lilliquist (bullpen), Mark McGwire (hitting), Dave McKay (first base coach; currently with the Chicago Cubs), Jose Oquendo (third base coach) and Joe Pettini (bench; currently with the Houston Astros) - will comprise his staff in the roles they occupied last season.  Paul Lessard, head athletic trainer of the Cincinnati Reds, and Jim Lovell, assistant athletic trainer of the Atlanta Braves, will work with the N.L. All-Stars.  As manager of the Houston Astros, Collins was a National League coach under manager Felipe Alou at the 1995 All-Star Game in Texas, while Roenicke was a part of Mike Scioscia's Angels staff for the American League at the 2003 All-Star Game in Chicago.
Washington, managing his second consecutive Midsummer Classic, has invited Ned Yost, manager of the host Kansas City Royals, and Bob Melvin of the Oakland Athletics to serve as the A.L. coaches.  Washington's Rangers coaches - Dave Anderson (third base coach), Scott Coolbaugh (hitting), Andy Hawkins (bullpen), Mike Maddux (pitching), Jackie Moore (bench) and Gary Pettis (first base coach) - will assist with batting practice and other field duties.  Nick Kenney, head athletic trainer of the Royals, and Lonnie Soloff, the head athletic trainer of the Cleveland Indians, will round out the A.L. staff.  As manager of the Brewers, Yost was a coach for La Russa at the 2005 All-Star Game in Detroit, while Melvin was a member of Bob Brenly's D-backs staff for the National League at the 2002 All-Star Game in Milwaukee.
The 2012 All-Star Game will be played at Kauffman Stadium on Tuesday, July 10th.  The 83rd All-Star Game will be televised nationally by FOX Sports; in Canada by Rogers Sportsnet and RDS; and worldwide by partners in more than 200 countries via MLB International's independent feed.  Pregame ceremonies will begin at 8:00 p.m. (EDT)/7:00 p.m. (local).  ESPN Radio and ESPN Radio Deportes will provide exclusive national radio coverage of the All-Star Game.  MLB Network, MLB.com and Sirius XM also will provide comprehensive All-Star Week coverage.  For more information, please visit allstargame.com.
