It was a week ago when the Ruff Riders found out that the Houston Stallions would no longer be a part of the Lone Star Football League. I talked to some of their players about the initial reaction to the news, and they said, they were disappointed, but now it's given them that opportunity to take the top spot.

"Well anytime that you have an undefeated team, and the first team in the league, unfortunately whatever happened in the league, they are not there now, but that was the best and you always want to play the best," says Veteran Johnny Anderson, "We felt like we were the best contenders for them  all season."

"We did want to see them again in the playoffs, maybe even a championship down the road, so it was a little disheartening, but it did help us out a little bit and we are in playoff contention." Says Chuck Palonis.

"It helped us out a few. The two games that we lost to them were taken away. We are just focusing on what we have at hand now." adds Anderson.

With all distractions aside, winning remains the top priority for the Ruff Riders. They have four more games left in the regular season including this week's game on Saturday against Amarillo.
