The ACU Wildcats are facing lots of changes heading into the 2012 season, but the constant for the new year is quarterback Mitchell Gale.

Gale returns for his senior year, and he is the national Preseason Player of the Year according to Lindy's magazine.

Gale is coming off a junior year in which he threw for 3823 yards and 28 touchdowns. He helped lead ACU to a 9-3 record and a berth in the NCAA playoffs. Gale's best game came in the Wildcats playoff loss to Washburn when he threw for over 500 yards and 4 touchdowns.

In his career, the Wildcats senior has 9,110 yards and 76 touchdowns.

Gale and the Wildcats open the 2012 season on September 1 at Shotwell Stadium against NCAA Div. II newcomer, McMurry.
