Webcast: Abilene's May Unemployment Numbers

About 4,700 people who wanted to work in Abilene last month didn't have jobs in May.

The Texas Workforce Commission this morning released the employment rate for last month, with Abilene's May unemployment rate coming in at 5.7 percent.

The state agency lists the Abilene civilian labor force at 82,400 workers, but the report indicates that the Abilene civilian labor force has lost 2,000 workers since last year.

The Workforce Commission reports that the Texas economy added about 12,500 workers last month.
