"Now they're safe, they've got food , water and they're happy," said Lynn Shults from Rescue the Animals in Abilene.
Nineteen horses made their way to their new temporary home in Abilene after being abandoned in Ranger malnourished and left to die.
Now they're in the hands of a team from Rescue the Animals who say they already look better.
"Looking over at all of the horses it doesn't appear that there's anything life threatening with any of them at this time," said Shults.
Workers from the organization will continue to care for the horses- making sure they're well fed and nourished.
They'll be kept at the Abilene animal shelter until its determined whether they'll be put up for adoption.
"We've just been making sure we've got a good, safe, secure place for them to come and hang out for a few days," said Aaron Vannoy from Abilene Animal Services.
"I'll perhaps pass some words out to some of my friends that may be able to take some of them," said Abilene resident Joe Darlak who stopped by to view the horses.
Darlak has rescued several abandoned horses himself and was relieved to see these are all okay.
"I heard they were coming in and i wanted to take a look at them, give them a little cheer," he said.
Which is exactly what workers say each of the horses needs- just a little love and care.
"That's what they need they just need to settle down, be quiet, be calm and get to be a horse," said Shults.
They're even being given a special feed to help them gain weight and regrow their mane.
That is, if they'll finally choose that over the grass.
It's been a wild ride for each of these horses- and now they'll finally have the time to get the rest they need.
"As you can see they're out and they're enjoying what they have now," said Shults.
