Hop on Pop Takes Over the Zoo

By: Kristin Anderson
Updated: June 17, 2012
Not only did Dr Seuss take over downtown Abilene this weekend, but it took over father's day too. CALF and the zoo partnered up for the hop on pop picnic today.

After a reading of the classic 'Hop on Pop' there was a picnic and a few activities for the children. The timing of the calf festival made for the perfect Dr. Seuss themed fathers day.

"It just made sense to feature 'Hop on Pop.' It's one of his most favorite books, it's a really easy book for kids to read. And it's also a beloved book about a father playing with their children so it really just made sense since it was father's day to have a picnic," said Sherri Statler, CALF volunteer.
