Brownwood Roads Scheduled for Seal Coating

Updated: June 18, 2012
Brownwood drivers will need to steer clear of US 377(Main Street) and FM 2524 (Austin Avenue) on Sunday, June 24. The Texas Department of Transportation plans to have those roads seal coated at that time.

The work was scheduled for a Sunday to minimize the impact to traffic. Drivers should use caution when traveling near the work zones and be alert to workers in the area and traffic control measures. Loose gravel may be present for several days following a seal coat application. Motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes if possible.

Seal coating helps with pothole prevention and improves skid resistance, extending the life of the road. The treatment penetrates cracks and imperfections in the roadway surface to seal water out, which can break down the road structure over time and lead to more costly and time-consuming repairs.

The work will be completed by contractor Brannan Paving Co., Ltd., of Victoria.
