Scurry Co. Commissioners Reinstate Burn Ban, Fireworks Use Not Affected

By: Snyder Daily News
Updated: June 19, 2012
Scurry County Commissioners today reinstated the burn ban, but the personal use of fireworks in the county will not be affected.

Commissioners learned today that the deadline to ban commercial or personal firework use was June 15, so the court could not prohibit the use for July 4.

Fireworks are banned inside the Snyder city limits by ordinance, but use in unincorporated areas of the county is allowed.

Commissioners noted dry conditions throughout the county and in the four weeks since the burn ban was rescinded as a reason to reinstate the ban.

The Snyder Chamber of Commerce fireworks show in Towle Park will be held.
