Court Hearing to Determine Fate of Abandoned Horses

By: Kristin Anderson
Updated: June 19, 2012
A court hearing will determine the future of 19 abandoned horses this Friday.

The owners will be given a chance to explain their reasons for leaving the horses in Ranger.

A judge will then decide if the owners can have the horses back, or if they will be given to the city to find new homes.

Rescue the Animals has said that if Friday's hearing does hand the horses to them to find new owners, they will start discussing the adoption processes with the Abilene Animal Shelter.

However, no horses will be adopted out until they have properly healed, which they expect to take about a month.
