In Downtown Abilene, lunch time offers a variety of choices for a quick and tasty meal. But for those with a sweet tooth, Mckay's Bakery blinds a classic touch on the lunch hour, with your choice of temptation.
"We have a homemade vegetable beef soup that we have made for over 40 years," says Diane Green, owner of McKay's Bakery. "It has always been one of our best sellers."
Some of McKay's other lunch time favorites are an original broccoli and bacon quiche and the classic variety of club sandwiches.
And of course you can't visit a bakery without struggling to stay away from the rows of pies, cookies, and cakes.
"You know that's just part of coming to a bakery for lunch," says Green, "you have to have the treats after!"
But desserts aren't the only thing that attracts people to McKay's lunch menu.
"We have a very clam atmosphere," explains Green, "you can leave the hubbub of your office and come here and just really kind of chill."
The other big plus to lunch at McKays? Their A+ service!
"We have good food and we have good service," says Green. "We do our best to get everybody in and out of here as quickly as possible."
Green says rarely do customers wait more than 5-10 minutes for their order to be completed.
