It was her way of getting around and now it's gone.

"Why would anyone do a thing like that?", said Abilene resident Karan Clark.

Clark left her electric wheelchair at her mother's home which she was cleaning out to sell.

She says someone broke in and took it.

Now she's left with a manual wheelchair- but it's not the same.

"My husband and I had to go to the grocery store yesterday and it was extremely difficult getting around," she said.

The 67 year-old has lost both of her legs; one from polio and another from diabetes.

She's also lost several fingers so even menial tasks are proving more and more difficult.

"Even getting up the ramp in a wheelchair like this is extremely difficult," she said.

She depends on her husband to help her now more than ever, but right now he's also in a wheelchair.

Both  face the challenge of helping one another out.

"Well I've got to help her find some other ways to get around other than her wheelchair," said Kurt Clark.

The couple filed a police report, but with no witnesses and few clues, they doubt anyone will be found.

"I don't think there's much we can do about it," said Clark.

Both are unemployed, so buying a new chair may not be possible.

However, all in all, Clark is trying to keep a smile and hope for the best.

"I hope I get the scooter back, or some method of getting around easier," she said.

Her husband however, isn't as positive- he feels more vulnerable than ever.

"Kinda robbed and helpless," he said.
