It's the first of it's kind in our area and it's designed to treat
patients without insurance. They just opened the doors to their first
location in Abilene last month and already Affordacare is making a
difference.
"One of the reasons why urgent care is so expensive and going to the emergency room is so expensive is because they have unlimited ability to prescribe," says Rebecca Leggett, a Family Nurse Practitioner with Affordacare. "Not everything needs an emergency room and not everything needs urgent care."
One of the biggest advantages to seeking medical assistance with Affordacre is the significant cut in wait times. Patients are able to call ahead of time to add their names to the waiting list, ensuring them wait times of only 15-20 minutes.
She adds, " You can come in for ears, stomach ache, vomiting, diarrhea, and things like that that you can see very quickly in the doctors office if you can't get in to see your regular doctor.
According to Leggett, nearly 26% of American citizens are without health insurance, which is way Affordacare is such a necessary addition to the community.
