This week we're shining the spotlight on a local photographer, who is donating her time and talents to raise money in support of the Abilene Animal Shelter.

Meet Jessie Strickland, nominated by the KTAB 4u news team for her selfless efforts to raise money for animals in need. Strickland volunteered to donate 75% of the proceeds from her photography shoots and 100% of the sales from her photo packages from now until July 15th to help the Abilene Animal Shelter.

Strickland's fundraising efforts began after she heard the story about the abandoned horses, dumped on a man's property. The money raised through her efforts, will directly benefit these animals (Read the full story here).

Strickland has worked closely over the past few weeks with the Abilene Animal Shelter, to make sure the funds will go to support vet bills, feed, and anything else these horses need.  Her goal is to raise at least $500, but Strickland says she hopes to top that number.

Strickland says, "I want to raise as much as possible for these poor creatures."
