Officials Still Investigating Pool Sicknesses

By: Homa Bash

The City of Abilene, the YMCA and Rose Park pool officials still aren't sure what caused so many children to get sick more than two weeks ago.

There were 19 kids sent to the hospital after an incident at Rose Park Pool earlier this month.

Officials have initially pinpointed chemicals as the culprit, but are now shifting their focus from testing the water to testing the equipment.

This comes after a similar sounding incident in an Indianapolis pool last week that sent more than 70 people to the hospital.

In that case, officials believe it was likely an improper mix of chemicals that spilled into the public pool.

Gentlemen, please be advised that sodium hypochlorite is Chlorine. If the operators are too dumb to know that, they should turn in their keys and go home. I am a California licensed Civil Engineer and Californai licensed Swimming Pool Contractor. This is one of the dumbest things I have read in a long time. Learn what you are doing before you kill someone.
