Abilene Man Killed in Callahan Co. Crash

An Abilene man was killed in a one-vehicle accident Monday morning in Callahan County.

The Texas Department of Public Safety reports that 64-year-old Dr. Thomas Allan Woodward of Abilene was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident at 10:17 Monday morning.

According to the report, Dr. Woodward was driving southbound on Texas 36 in Callahan County when his 2004 Cadillac left the roadway and struck a tree about 1.3 miles north of US Highway 283.

DPS officials say there were no braking or evasive action marks prior to impact with the tree on the side of the road.

Woodward was not wearing a seat belt.

This crash is still under investigation.
