Hendrick Medical Center Hosting the 10th Annual Asthma Summer Camp

By: Derek Palivec
Updated: June 25, 2012
Hendrick medical center is hosting it's tenth annual asthma summer camp.
The camp allows kids with asthma to enjoy activities since severe asthma can prevent them from typical summer camp activities.
Today, the campers went swimming and had a martial arts demonstration.
This was followed by a peak flow meter reading, as part of the camp's efforts to education the kids on their asthma.

Susan Mcquad had this to say: "We really wanted to meet the needs of the community of all the children with asthma because a lot of these kids don't get to go to camp.  Some of them have very severe asthma and their parents don't wan to send them off. So they can come here and they know that they're well taken care of and taught about their illness."

Students from cisco college and t-s-t-c volunteered for the camp.
