APD Donating Unclaimed Items to Nonprofit

By: Katie Thompson
Updated: June 26, 2012
The Abilene Police Department is getting ready to donate a large amount of unclaimed bicycles to local charities.

The department collects many unclaimed bikes, clothes and toys throughout regular business.

After 30 days if these items are unclaimed by their original owner, they are put aside to be
distributed to local nonprofit organizations like Global Samaritan, who has delivered bikes to Haiti in the past.

Whatever doesn't go to these nonprofits is then put up for sale in the city's auction.
