Gun Sales Up Before November Elections

"But right now the guns sales are just crazy. Everybody's coming in here either wanting to invest in firearms or buy something before they can't buy it," said Shooting Shop owner Patrick Cowen.

Patrick has owned his gun shop for about a year. And with November's election only a few months away, he's starting to see an increase in the number of people buying guns in fear of Obama's re-election.

"Sales have always been good but you know, it's just been a really big jump lately," he said. "The past couple months everybody's been really coming in here and wanting."

The same goes for Lance over at B&B. He said mid summer normally isn't this busy, but sales are increasing just like the first time Obama took office.

"This is normally our slow time of year, and it is a little slower mid summer," said Lance. "But we can tell that it's steady and the interest and everything is there so I know it's going to increase as we continue on through the year."

Patrick said the number of first-time owners that have walked into his shop have risen as well, with the same political motivation to buy.

"Same thing. You know, people are looking at it and going, 'Hey, I need a fire arm and may not be able to own one after elections,'" said Patrick.

And gun sales aren't the only thing being driven up by the November elections.

"Values on guns are really going up. All the collector grade guns are bringing a premium now. There's a lot of new manufactured guns that are in short supply that are bringing in ridiculous amounts," Patrick said.

But the economic factor of gun prices is not what's pushing the sales as much as the political influence.

"Main thing is politics. Politics play a big role on gun sales," said Patrick. "With the economy up or down, we still sell guns."

Patrick and Lance both told me that they expect the sales to continue to rise as we get closer to the election in November.
