"My husband and I are both military and we can't just go adopt the horses or we would," says Jessie Strickland.

Strickland is in the Air Force Reserve and  photography is just a hobby of hers. After giving it some thought, she realized her hobby could turn in to something bigger.

"By offering something to people in return for a donation, that we would be able to raise more money than what i can donate just out of pocket," she says.

Strickland is offering a donation only photo shoot where 100% of the proceeds will go directly to the Abilene Animal Shelter to help the horses that were abandoned two  weeks ago.

The animal shelter says they can always use the donations, especially in this particular case. Having so many abandoned horses to take in was unexpected; something they had not really budgeted for.

"Donations for those types of animals are very, very, important because it helps supplement  the monies that we are going to spend, we're able to get donations in and help take care of those horses better," says Aaron Vannoy of the Abilene Animal Shelter.

Which is what is most important to Strickland.

She says, "The only thing that I'm getting out of this is the opportunity to help the horses."

Her children are just as passionate about animals as she is and they are behind their mother 100%.

"They know what was done to the horses was absolutely wrong and they see what I'm doing is trying to help the horses out and they support it," says Strickland.
