The family of a Texas prison inmate has filed a lawsuit against the state after their loved one died from a heat stroke in a prison with no air conditioning.

The suit alleges the state prison system was negligent for failing to provide air conditioning.

Texas has 111 prison units, 21 of which are fully air-conditioned, 90 others are partially air-conditioned, but generally not where the inmates are housed.

Inmate advocates say that must change before more people die.
