Bear, the family lab and Stanley, the toddler he saved, are playing catch.

At least, as well as a 14-month-old can play catch.

The two most involved in the water rescue are the two who are the most unaware that anything is any different.

Patricia Drauch says it all happened when she went into the garage, just for a minute, to get a gardening tool.

One minute, she says Stanley was walking right next to her, and the next, he wasn't.

She ran out looking everywhere for him and found him in the pool.

"It was scary his lips were blue his eyes were rolled back," said Patricia Drauch.

At first, she says it looked like Stanley was floating, but when she looked closer she saw that her son wasn't under the water.

Bear was holding him up by balancing Stanley on his back.

"He wouldn't move in the pool he didn't bark he didn't move it was like he was afraid to move at all until I got Stanley up out of the pool and that's when he came up out of the pool with me," said Drauch.

"Bear was trying to keep Stanley up so he wouldn't die," said Kyle Drauch, Stanley's brother.

When her 911 call wouldn't go through, Patricia Drauch packed up her boys to take them to the fire department.

"On the way he barfed up a lot of water and then he started to respond but she kept going and she was just a little over the speed limit," said Kyle Drauch.

Patricia says x-rays showed there isn't any water in Stanley's lungs and he's going to be fine.

Something the family says is all because of Bear.
