Abilene Ruff Riders & Amarillo Venom To Give Back To The Community Before Game On Saturday

By: Abilene Ruff Riders Press Release
Updated: June 27, 2012

The Abilene Ruff Riders and Amarillo Venom will battle it out for a share of the top spots in the Lone Star Football League at the Expo Center on Saturday night at 7pm, but before they battle against each other they will come together to help out the youth at New Horizons Audrey Grace House that day.

This Saturday the teams will meet at the Audrey Grace House, operated by New Horizons, a non-profit organization that works with children who have suffered abuse and neglect.  "The players and coaches will get the opportunity to help a child have a great day who deserves to have a bright spot in their life." "Nothing could be closer to what the Lone Star Football League stands for than helping children in need." "We want this to be a family oriented entertainment option for Abilene and all of the communities that have teams that play in the Lone Star Football League.", commented Scott Anderson, spokesman for the Abilene Ruff Riders.

The Abilene Ruff Riders and the Amarillo Venom will meet at the house by 1pm and spend an hour with the children, signing autographs and playing games.  Media is invited to attend at 2pm for interviews and photographs of the players.  The teams will then eat their pre-game meal with the kids together at around 2pm.  "This is probably a first for our league or any other, having the two teams come together for a common goal of helping children on the day of a game, much less sitting at the same table and eating a pre-game meal together." Scott went on to say "When we went to Amarillo a couple of weeks ago I talked to Stephanie Tucker about the idea, she was all on board with the cause immediately and we met with Julian Reese, coach of the Venom, together after the game." "He was very excited about the opportunity to interact with the kids and his players were very supportive of the idea" "I have had the opportunity to work with Toby and Stephanie, as well as her staff all year and they have the same goal as all of our owners to make this league stronger by supporting each other any way possible when we go to other cities for game." "I personally want to thank the Venom staff, players, coaches and owners for working with us on this great cause." "The Ruff Riders have a long standing relationship with New Horizons and Wali Mumin, one of our players is actually an employee of New Horizons and works at the Audrey Grace House.  The Ruff Riders will be donating tickets to all of the Staff and children of new horizons for this game and encourage all of Abilene to support the great cause of New Horizons."

Don't forget to get your tickets early and take advantage of the special ticket offers for this Saturday.  Special pricing General Admission and VIP seats are available and a limited number of box seats are available for this game.  Tickets can be purchased by calling 325-232-7816 or going by the office at 1942 industrial, Ste C across from West Texas Golf.  This game will be a RED OUT game so wear as much red as possible to show your support for the Ruff Riders as they close in on a playoff berth this Saturday June 30th at 7pm!  Don't miss any of the action and be loud!  Go Ruff Riders!  It's gonna be a great run to the playoffs!
