APD: Man Arrested After Allegedly Hitting Woman in Head with Log

Wednesday at about 11:50 a.m., Officer Christopher Volirakis was dispatched to an injured subject call at a residence in the 900 block of Ambler Avenue. APD Dispatch was notified of a disturbance by a female victim alleging she was having problems with her husband. Officer Volirakis' investigation revealed that the female victim had been assaulted and that she alleged her husband struck her in the head with a log. Upon officer arrival the suspect was not present. The victim was transported to a local hospital for her injuries. The husband was then found stumbling near the house and was intoxicated. He was arrested for aggravated assault family violence. The investigation into this crime continues.

Thursday just after midnight Officer Chad Allen was dispatched to a robbery at a business in the 3400 block of North First Street. A victim notified APD Dispatch that a male suspect had entered the store just before closing and brandished a knife during a demand for money. The suspect fled the scene before police arrival and the suspect left with cash. An initial attempt at locating the suspect was unsuccessful. A report for aggravated robbery was taken. No injuries were reported. The investigation into this crime continues.

Early Thursday morning at about 1:20, Officer Edward Cutbirth contacted a motorist in the 1400 block of South Clack Street after observing the vehicle traveling the wrong way on a one-way street. Officer Cutbirth contacted a female driver and smelled the odor of alcohol coming from the driver. He also observed the driver to be disoriented. The driver was given field sobriety tests which she failed. The driver was arrested and taken to jail where she provided breath samples. Breath samples taken revealed the driver's BAC to be above 0.150. The driver was charged with driving while intoxicated.
