Update: Eastland Child Released From Hospital After Near Drowning

The child who nearly drowned at an Eastland Public Pool Friday evening was released from the hospital Saturday night.

Four-year-old Trevor Maddox was flown to a Fort Worth hospital after getting into deeper water during a private birthday party.

Lifeguards were on duty, but Trevor's mother told KTAB Saturday that her brother was the one to pull the child from the water -- and that she and her husband performed CPR until medics arrived.

The Eastland City Manager said they are now beefing up lifeguard presence at the community pool, adding an extra lifeguard during smaller events.

Has anyone stopped to realize how this may of affected the 12 year old boy who dove in to save that 4 year old?Yes, I agree parents need to watch their children when they are in and around water. They also should have some sort of floatation device on at all times.

I don't think the lifeguards should be blamed for this at all. The child was 4. His parents should have been watching him closer.

This makes me so mad. A week ago we had a party at the Eastland water park and we complained because one life guard was texting and the other two were parently dating because the boy was sitting between the legs of the other female life guard. They didnt even watch our children. I think there needs to be some stricter polices put into place for the life guards.
