The Abilene Community Band was there for the celebration, playing patriotic tunes, as members of the community waved flags and sang along. The Boy Scouts were there to present the colors and the Abilene Fire Department was even represented with their fire engine.

"Today we're celebrating the important role that citizens have in their country, and that Christians have in their churches, to not just love the country and God, but to actually take an active role", says church member, Janice Bedford.

People of all ages attended the special event, as the community kicked off the Fourth of July festivities early.
