By: Rangers Communications
Updated: July 2, 2012
Arlington, Texas - The Texas Rangers announced today they have teamed up with their fellow defending West Division champions, the Arizona Diamondbacks, as both teams seek to get their candidates voted onto the All-Star team in the MLB.com Final Vote, presented by Firestone. Rangers' right-hander Yu Darvish and D-backs second baseman Aaron Hill are among five candidates in each league eligible to make the All-Star team.

The Rangers are encouraging fans on Twitter to use the hashtags #VoteYu and #FinHillVote when tweeting. Fans can visit MLB.com/vote and vote as often as possible, as THERE IS NO LIMIT TO THE NUMBER OF TIMES THAT FANS MAY VOTE IN THE ALL-STAR GAME FIRESTONE FINAL VOTE. You can also text A2 to 89269 to cast a vote for Darvish.  Standard rate messaging and data fees may apply. Mobile voting in Canada also is available and fans should text A2 to 101010 to vote for Darvish.

To encourage fans to vote for Darvish on-line, the Rangers are offering an All-Star sweepstakes prize of a suite for 20 for one select Sunday Rangers game in 2012. Fans will be automatically registered for the sweepstakes each of the first 25 times they vote for Darvish in the 2012 All-Star Game MLB.com Final Vote sponsored by Firestone at texasrangers.com. However, fans will be registered to win for the sweepstakes just the first 25 times they vote for Darvish. All rules for the sweepstakes can be found on texasrangers.com.

Darvish is 10-5 with a 3.59 ERA in 16 starts for the Rangers this season, ranking among American League leaders in strikeouts (2nd, 117), wins (3rd), and opponents batting average (7th, .227).  His 10 wins lead all major league rookies.  His 5 games with 10-or-more strikeouts are most in the American League, tied with the Mets' R.A. Dickey for most such games in the majors in 2012.

Balloting is underway now and concludes at 3 p.m. CDT on Thursday. The winners, as chosen exclusively by online fan voting totals, will be announced on MLB.com shortly thereafter.
