Sheriff's, Inmates Set to Move into Jones Co. Jail

By: Victor Sotelo
Updated: July 2, 2012
The Jones County Jail passed inspection and started moving in today.

The Sheriff's Department worked on moving thousands of inmate files, and due to confidentiality issues, inmate work crews could not be used for the job.

The inmates themselves will be moved into the jail Tuesday.

Since the construction and operations of the jail were connected to the state jail facility next door that was never populated by the state, it was unknown if the jail would ever be occupied.

The county decided to buy the jail earlier this year.
