We start with District 4A-Division 1 and state finalist Stamford. The Bulldogs are picked to win the district. 16 positions are filled with returning starters this season, and the most important of those starters is Hagen Hutchinson. The senior quarterback is the leading returning passer with 34-hundred yards and 36 touchdowns and rusher with over 13-hundred yards and 27 scores in the district. Hutchinson is the preseason offensive MVP and he is the utility player on Texas Football's Super Team. The question: is he fully recovered from a torn labrum.

Forsan is picked to finish 2nd in front of 2012 regional finalist Winters.

The Blizzards said good bye to head coach Stephen Hermesmeyer and hello to new head coach Adam Bright. Bright inherits just 4 starters from 2012, a strong foundation is in place. Winters has been in the playoffs 4 straight years.

Class A newcomer Anson is picked just out of the playoff picture in 4th place and Haskell is picked 5th.

The Goldthwaite Eagles are picked to win District 5-A Division 1. Gary Proffitt returns 12 starters from last year's 7 and 5 team. San Saba is next in 2nd place. Hico is the other playoff team. Santo and DeLeon are picked to finish 4th and 5th.

On to Division 2, and the favorite to win the state championship. The Munday Moguls lost in the championship game in 2011, but they are picked to win the District 8-A championship and are the top ranked team according to Texas Football. Dee Paul returns for his senior year as the district's preseason offensive MVP and he is the preseason Class A Division 2 Player of the Year. Texas Football says the SMU commit is the biggest star in Class A.

Muenster and Electra are the other playoff teams from District 8-A. Petrolia, Era, and Perrin-Whitt are picked out of the playoff picture.

The Albany Lions drop down to Division 2 this year, and they are expected to win District 7. The Lions have 10 positions filled by starters including quarterback Jake Bumgardner. The district preseason offensive MVP is back for his 3rd year as the starting quarterback. Bumgardner rushed and passed for more than 1-thousand yards for Albany in 2012.

Hamlin is next according to the magazine. The Pied Pipers are very young as they head into the new season. Head coach Russell Lucas' team has just 3 seniors. All-district quarterback Taylor Lambert is back to lead the offense. He will be handing the ball to running back Darrius Lee, who rushed for almost 13-hundred yards in 2012.

The Gorman Panthers are picked to return to the playoffs in 3rd place. Cross Plains and Roby are 4th and 5th. Roscoe, Baird, and Rangers will finish 6th, 7th, and 8th according to Dave Campbell's.
