Updated: July 5, 2012
Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts Susan Combs will hold a town hall meeting Monday, July 9 from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at the Depot Civic and Cultural Center in Brownwood. The Meeting will be open to the public to discuss the current economy and budget of Texas.

Combs invites the public to a "thought-provoking discussion of the facts, figures and trends fueling our state." The meeting is aimed to help citizens understand the complex interactions and events that make up the Texas economy, which can help ensure that Texas remains strong in the future.

"Texas has been more than fortunate. Late to enter the recession and early to recover, our state continues to become an ever greater part of the nation's economy," said Combs. "Still, we face challenges ahead. A growing population and demand for public services, increasing federal regulatory burdens and an uncertain global economy will shape the future of our state."

The public is encouraged to attend this free event, no RSVP is required. The Depot Civic and Cultural Center is located at 600 E. Depot Street.
