McMurry Band Camp Opens Today

McMurry University will have middle school and high school students from across the state on campus for a week of music making and recreational activities at the 2012 Summer Band Camps.

There will be 26 high school and junior high students playing marching percussion outdoors for the Marching Percussion Camp on July 5-7. McMurry then will host 140 students beginning on Sunday, July 9, for the McMurry Band Camp that will run through Saturday, July 14.

The campers will work on playing and marching techniques in addition to learning new music. They will work with internationally known guest artist Bill Bachman, who will also be giving a free open-to-the-public clinic from 3-5 p.m. on Saturday, July 8, in the Bynum Band Hall.

The band camp ends on Saturday, July 14, with a free concert at 11 a.m. in Radford Auditorium.
