Snyder's Water Usage Above Daily Limit

By: Snyder Daily News
Updated: July 5, 2012
Snyder's water usage was up last week, with a daily average of 2.36 million gallons per day (mgd).

On the peak day last week, the city used 3.61 million gallons.

The Snyder City Council on Monday heard that the Ward County wells would help alleviate the pressure on lakes and reservoirs by adding 46 mgd to the Colorado River Municipal Water District's system every day.

Lake J.B. Thomas is 0.68 percent full, with just 1,368 acrefeet of water remaining in the lake bed. On July 2, 2011, Thomas was more than 3 percent full.

The O.H. Ivie reservoir is now 15.09-percent full, with 83,656 acre-feet of water. It was 25 percent full a year ago.

The E.V. Spence reservoir, which once fed San Angelo, is only 0.34 percent full.
