Six prisoners and three corrections officers were treated for non-life-threatening injuries after their bus struck a tow truck on Interstate 45 early Friday morning.

A spokesman for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice tells BigCountryHomepage.com that the bus was traveling from Huntsville to a prison unit in Gatesville when the crash occurred about 5:20 a.m. It is unknown if any of the prisoners were destined for the Robertson or Middleton units in Abilene.

The spokesman says the tow truck hit by the bus was cleaning up following another collision on I-45.
