"You know we miss Shannon. The guys miss Shannon on the shift. They're getting by the best they can," says Brownwood Fire Chief Del Albright.

Some days are harder than others. July 7th will mark one year since Shannon Stone died. He fell over a railing, while trying to catch a baseball at a Rangers game with his son.

Albright says, "When someone leaves for one reason or another, especially unexpected like Shannon's circumstance, it really hits them hard."

Today Stone's shift was working, and just a year ago, he was here with them.

"We just lean on each other and the guys remember the good times with Shannon," Albright continues.

His coworkers say if there was anyone that could make you laugh, while getting the job done, it was Stone.

Albright says, "He had a really good sense of humor. He definitely was a take charge kind of guy on incidents. So me as a fire chief, I kind of miss that, having that type of individual."

Although he is gone, Stone's light still shines, and it can brighten up your day instantly when you look at his favorite lamp. Which the firefighters have at the station in honor or him.

To pass on that light, the Brownwood Fire Department will always be there for the Stone family.

"The family knows they're always part of our Brownwood fire family," says Albright.
