McMurry University Kicks Off Summer Band Camp

By: Nora Hartfeil
Updated: July 8, 2012
Musicians of all ages and experiences gathered at McMurry University today for auditions before they begin their week-long music-packed camp.

Participants will get specialized tutoring and have the choice of several elective workshops, and of course, prepare for the finale concert, next Saturday. We spoke with a camp student to find out why he looks forward to it every year.

"Well, it's fun because you have something to do over the summer, and you meet a lot of new people, and you also learn more, and get better at your craft in band. It's just a joy to do", says second-year participant, Nate Harden.

Several instruments are represented at the camp, as well as percussion and colorguard. Participants have the option of staying in the dorms on campus, or just come for the festivities during the day.
