Updated: July 9, 2012
Early Friday morning at about 2:00, Officer Joshua New observed a vehicle occupied by two occupants in the 400 block of Cheyenne Circle on the north side of Lake Ft. Phantom Hill. He contacted the subjects and detected the odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. A male subject was searched and found to be in possession of medications for which he did not have a prescription. A small quantity of marijuana and a semi-automatic pistol were also found. The male subject was arrested for unlawful carrying of a weapon, possession of a controlled substance (alprazolam) and possession of marijuana. He was transported to Jones County Jail.

Early Sunday morning at about 4:40, Officers Kevin Pruitt and Ralph Garcia responded to an assault call in the 1000 block of Beech Street. APD dispatch was informed by a female victim that she had been assaulted by a male subject. Investigation revealed that the male subject was an ex-boyfriend that entered the residence with a key. A verbal argument ensued and turned into physical violence. The victim left the residence to contact police. The investigation revealed that the male subject had punched the victim on several occasions that caused bruising. Once police arrived at the residence, the male subject locked himself in the residence that was still occupied with three children. The victim reported that the residence had been ransacked and that numerous glass objects had been broken inside the residence. After initial attempts to negotiate with the subject failed and due to the circumstances that placed the children's welfare into question, forced entry into the house was made by officers. The subject was arrested and charged with assault family violence. The victim did not seek treatment of her injuries and no further injuries were reported.

On Sunday night at about 7:40, Officer Robert Brannon responded to a fight call in the area of South 14th and Butternut Streets. APD Dispatch had been informed of a disturbance in progress between two males and there was a report that one of them had a pistol. A description of the subjects was provided. Officer Brannon arrived and observed a male matching the description of the possible armed subject. But when Officer Brannon attempted to contact the subject, the male subject fled on foot and Officer Brannon gave chase. The subject continued to run while being commanded to stop. Officer Brannon caught the subject a short time later in the 1200 block of Elm Street. The subject was arrested for evading detention.
