Abilene Begins Using New Emergency Dispatch System

By: BigCountryHomePage.com Staff Reports
Updated: July 9, 2012
The new emergency dispatch system for the City of Abilene is now up and running.

The goal of the new system is to improve overall efficiency.

Emergency call takers are now trained to ask specific questions to the caller, while dispatchers simultaneously send the appropriate responding units.

This helps the city minimize over-use of first responders who are not needed in every situation.

Stick with BigCountryHomePage.com for a more detailed look at the new system later today.
