The Stephens County Sheriff's Office is attempting to locate a known felon who got away after an attempted traffic stop.

Sheriff Dan Young reports that a Stephens County Sheriff's Deputy was involved in a short vehicle pursuit Saturday at approximately 11:45 a.m.

The Deputy was attempting to stop a vehicle driven by 44-year-old Clinton James Easter, a Texas parolee who had an outstanding warrant for his arrest from Texas Department of Criminal Justice.

A Stephens County Deputy spotted Easter driving north toward Breckenridge on Highway 183 South.

Easter refused to stop for the Deputy and turned onto County Road 161 before stopping at the Ranch House at the end of the road and fleeing on foot in a heavily wooded area.

Stephens County Deputies, Breckenridge Police Officers, Department of Public Safety Troopers and Eastland County Deputies searched for over five hours, but were unable to locate Easter.

On Monday a warrant was obtained for Easter for evading arrest/detention with a motor vehicle.

Sheriff Dan Young had information that Easter was possibly hiding at another ranch location in Eastland County, but found that Easter had left the area sometime Sunday night.

While attempting to serve the arrest warrant Deputies observed numerous items that were believed to be stolen. Eastland County Deputies obtained a search warrant for the Eastland County property. Deputies executed the search warrant and were able to confirm a large amount of stolen copper wire and vehicle wheels.

Some of the stolen items were identified as being stolen from a Montague County theft and other items from an Eastland County theft.

The items were seized by the Eastland County Sheriff's Office for storage and later release to the property owners. Eastland County authorities have obtained a warrant for Easter for theft over $20,000 but under $100,000, with other charges expected from Montague County as well.

Clinton Easter is currently still at large and is believed to be driving a white Chevrolet single cab pickup possibly pulling a tan colored travel trailer.

Anyone with information of Clinton Easter's location please contact the Stephens County Sheriff's Office at 254-559-2481.
