We start things with a battle between a pair of state finalists from the 2011 season. The Cisco Loboes make the trip to Stamford to take on the Bulldogs in cross-class battle. Cisco enters the season as the 3rd ranked team in Class 2A Div. 2. Cisco has quarterback Colton Gayle and Mason Reed back to lead the way. Gayle and Reed combined for 38-hundred yards rushing and passing in 2011. Reed added 128 tackles. Stamford is the 2nd ranked team in Class A Div. I. Of course Hagen Hutchinson is the name for Stamford, but he will need help this year. The Bulldogs are looking for big things from the likes of Bo Wimberly and James Washington.

Lubbock Estacado makes an appearance in Top Match Ups for the 2nd week in a row. They come to Abilene to take on Hugh Sandifer's Wylie Bulldogs in Week 4. The Matadors are ranked 22nd in the preseason and Wylie is 18th to start the 2012 season. The Bulldogs have owned this series in the last 4 years with 2 playoff wins in '08 and '09 and non-district victories over the Matadors in the last 2 seasons. Wylie won in 2010 by 2 points and eeked out a 1 point victory last year.

And now to a great match up in Class A football. The top ranked Mart Panthers make the trip to Goldthwaite to take on the 7th ranked Eagles. This Week 4 game will be the 4th between Mart and Goldthwaite in the last 3 seasons. Goldthwaite won the regular season games in the last 3 years, and Mart won the state championship game in 2010. Mart continues to be 1 of the teams to beat in Class A football.

Here are the best of the rest in Week 4 of the 2012 season. Abilene High visits San Angelo Central in a Little Southwest Conference reunion. A pair of Class 2A playoffs hopefuls play in Clyde. The Bulldogs host district favorite Eastland
