Just before 1:00 p.m. Friday, Officer Roy Kirby was dispatched to a shoplifter call at a business in the 1600 block of Highway 351. APD Dispatch was contacted by a loss prevention employee from the store that a female subject was observed shoplifting. Officer Kirby's investigation revealed that a female subject had selected and concealed merchandise in her purse and left the store without paying. The subject was contacted by loss prevention and escorted back into the store. Approximately $71 of merchandise was recovered and the subject was arrested for an enhanced charge of felony theft because of previous theft convictions.

On Sunday at about 5:20 p.m., Officer Jay Tollison was dispatched to a check welfare call at a residence in the 1200 block of Chestnut Street. APD Dispatch had been notified that a male subject might have been stabbed. After responding to the call, Officer Tollison was contacted by a female subject that walked up to him. His investigation revealed that the female subject had been in a physical altercation with her boyfriend and that she had stabbed the boyfriend. Injuries consistent with the alleged stabbing were found on the boyfriend and he was not seriously injured. The boyfriend claimed he had punched his girlfriend after she stabbed him while he was asleep in bed. Both parties appeared to be intoxicated. The male victim was not transported to a hospital. The female subject was arrested for aggravated assault.

On Sunday night at about 8:30, Officer Mary Guitar contacted a motorist in the 700 block of Main Street for a traffic violation. A K-9 officer assisted Officer Guitar and during the investigation the K-9 alerted on the vehicle for the presence of narcotics. A search of the male driver was conducted and a container with a white powdery substance was located on the driver's person. The substance tested positive for methylone. The driver was arrested for possession of a controlled substance.

As part of the Watch Your Car initiative conducted by the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles, the "You Hold the Key" campaign increased understanding among Texans that leaving doors unlocked and keys in the ignition results in roughly 50,000 stolen vehicles in Texas every year. Stolen vehicles, the campaign reminds drivers, is a "gateway" to other crimes. Learn more about what you can do to prevent auto theft at: http://ftp.txdmv.gov/pub/txdot-info/atpa/fact_sheet_2012.pdf
