The Abilene Youth Sports Authority (AYSA) is hosting the third annual AYSA High School Volleyball Showcase this weekend at Abilene High School.

Sixteen high school teams will participate in the 12-match event, beginning Friday morning and concluding with the championship matches on Saturday evening.  University Coaches from around the state will be in attendance, getting to see some of the incredible Central and West Texas volleyball talent.

The 2011 3A State Finalist Lady Bulldogs of Abilene Wylie, along with Abilene Cooper and Abilene High will compete against teams from Wolfforth Frenship, Lubbock Cooper, Stephenville, Burkburnett, Big Spring, Monahans, and Seminole.

Three rounds of Pool Play will feed the teams into Gold and Silver Bracket Tournament play, which begins at noon on Saturday.

The Abilene Convention Visitors Bureau projects this tournament will bring over $150,000 in tourism spending to Abilene.  "Sports Tourism Matters to Abilene!"
