Top Match Ups of 2012: Week 7

We start Week 7 in District 4-3A. The Wylie Bulldogs acting at host to the Monahans Lobos at Bulldog Stadium. The Bulldogs enter the season as the 18th ranked team in the state and are a regular in the Division I playoffs in Class 3A. The offensive line is expected to carry the load for Wylie with Riley Olson, John Lauve, and Deandre Key holding down the fort. Monahans comes east as the dominant Division 2 team in the region in the last few years. Head coach Mickey Owens team went to the semi-finals in 2011 and 12 starters are back from that team. This dog fight should be a good one.

The Brownwood Lions make the trip to Liberty Hill for a match up with the Panthers in District 8-3A. 2012 marks a new era for the Brownwood Lions. The Lions are playing in a district in the Hill Country instead of West Texas for the 1st time since dropping to Class 3A. Head coach Bob Shipley has to find 13 new starters from last years regional semi-finalist team. Their game for the top spot in the district with Liberty Hill will be a tough one. The Panthers have owned this district in the last 6 years. They have 12 starters back and are picked to win the district.

The Gorman Panthers and Hamlin Pied Pipers meet in Hamlin in District 7-A Division 2. The Pipers feature the returning passer in the district with Taylor Lambert behind center. Gorman's B.J. Ramirez is the preseason defensive player of the year in the district. Both teams are picked to go to the playoffs, and a win would each team a shot to challenge for the district championship.
