Oakland, CA--The Texas Rangers today announced
that RHP Alexi Ogando has been activated from the 15-day disabled list and will be in the bullpen for Tuesday's game in Oakland.
To make room for Ogando on the active roster, catcher Yorvit Torrealba has been placed on the MLB Paternity
Leave List. Torrealba has returned to his home in Florida to be with his wife Millie, who is expected to give birth shortly.
Ogando
was placed on the 15-day disabled list on June 12, retroactive to June
11 with a right groin strain
sustained while running to first base on June 10 at San Francisco. He
pitched 3.0 hitless innings that day in a start versus the Giants after
going 1-0, 2.27 with one save in 27 relief appearances to open the year.
Ogando pitched 3.0 scoreless innings, allowing one hit with 5 strikeouts, in a pair of rehab appearances
for Round Rock (AAA), last on Saturday vs. Memphis (2.0 IP).
Torrealba is batting .212 with 2 homers and 11 RBI in 44 games with Texas this season. A player may remain
on the Paternity Leave List for up to 72 hours.
