Cooper's Lorenzo Joe is the only player on our list stepping into a brand new role in 2012. As a sophomore, he played wide receiver for the Cougars. This season he is stepping into the quarterback role.

"He does a great job with managing the team and really leading it. I can definitely see some more leadership and definitely being more of a general on the field." Says Head Coach Todd Moebes of Joe.

The offseason has been beneficial for Joe, who has had to adjust from catching passes, to throwing them. Last year, Joe caught 48 passes for the Cougars and 11 total touchdowns.

"He was a thirteen game starter for us last year, and  even though he is getting the snap every play instead of playing wide receiver, he knows the offense and I've been very pleased with his progress."

He's also been busy travelling to camps, and making a name for himself  with Collegiate Scouts. His Junior year has yet to start, but Joe has already received offers, including one from Texas Tech.

But even with the spotlight, the most important thing is focusing on the upcoming season. He has the talent to be a top Quarterback in District 2-5A, and the evidence will lie in the details.

"Its the little things, decision making, when to call certain plays,  where to throw and place the football depending on where the defender is, those types of things. You see him progressing on all the little detailed stuff everytime he gets a chance to throw the ball." adds Meobes.

He's Cooper's new man in the pocket, and he's a Player to Watch in 2012.
