What began as a simple dare has turned into weekly spot of fame.

"I feel like I'm the guilty one because as I went up to do this, I looked back to see if they were following me and they were," said Vernell Lester.

"We got up and the first song that we did was 'You are My Sunshine,'" said Margaret Murrow.

The Sunshine Girls haven't missed a beat since.

They may not be professional singers, but they sure do have fun.

"We're just out for a good time and just laughing and acting silly and you know, there's nothing else to do on Tuesday nights," said Laurie Eubanks.

None has any kind of musical background, but hey, you're never too old to learn.

"Never in my wildest imagination did I ever think id do anything like this," said Murrow.

You can expect to see them every week at the rose park senior centers karaoke night.
They even have groupies-

The Abilene seniors are already looking for more songs to sing.

"Our confidence grows every week and we are having a ball," said Murrow.

It just may be time to consider leaving retirement.

"You never know, you never know, if we get somebody to back us we might just go all the way," said Eubanks.

Senior Citizens can join in on the karaoke every Tues. night from 7-9 p.m. at the Rose Park Senior Center.
