The Abilene Animal Shelter has reduced fees for dog and cat adoption because of an increase in euthanization due to overcrowding. The hope is that a fee reduction will encourage more adoptions.

The fee for adopting a dog at the shelter is now $40 instead of $80, and cats are now $30 instead of $70.

Rescue the Animals is also cutting their adoption fees for dogs and cats. Dogs are now more than 50 percent off, while kittens and cats are now $30 instead of $100. All their animals have been treated by vets.
