Abilene High and Cooper both competing in the State 7-on-7 Tournament in College Station this past weekend, and both of them had strong showings on the last day of the event.

The Eagles in the Championship Bracket, taking on Cy Creek in game one- Evin Abbe connects with Keevan Lucas.. Lucas weaving his way untouched into the endzone. the Eagles go on to beat Cy Creek 48-33.

To game two, AHS down a point late in the game. Abbe with the corner floater to Grant Alexander in the endzone.  Eagles with the comeback and defeat Wylie East 32-27 to head to the Quarterfinals.

Now taking on La Porte, Abbe, taking his time- decides to to deep.. Grant Alexander is there with the great go up and get it catch. The Eagles continue to fly high winning 40-28.

So to the Semi-Finals. Evin Abbe to Keevan Lucas, he makes the diving play into the endzone for the touchdown. Unfortunately the Manvel Mavericks were too much for the Eagles, halting their journey to Kyle Field, the Eagles fall 51-31.

To the Cooper Cougars. The cougars were ready for a great day of  7-on-7, and they will have it.

Game one against Alamo Heights. The one yard touchdown pass by Lorenzo Joe puts the Coogs ahead, they go on to win 32-22.

Game two opponent is Dallas Wylie. A back and forth battle for Cooper in this one. Joe with the deep pass trying to score quickly. Anthony Pierson is there.. makes he catch and helps lead Cooper into the semi-finals with a 27-12 win.

On to the next round, Cooper and O'Connor, it worked last game so they try it again, another deep pass to Pierson- like clockwork he's there! They score 6.

But it wouldn't be enough as O'Conner gets the best of Cooper in this one 47-34.. knocking Cooper out in the semis.
