Friday marks the end of early voting for Abilene and the rest of the Big Country.

Up for vote in Talor county are the nominees for sheriff and justice of the peace. The election office in the Taylor County Plaza building will be open for early votes until 7 Friday evening.

Registered voters in Taylor county who did not vote in the Democratic primary back in May can also vote at Hastings on South 14, K-mart on South First, the United Supermarket store at North 10 and Judge Ely and at Books-A-Million in the Mall of Abilene.

Texas Republicans are also choosing between David Dewhurst and Ted Cruz for the party's nomination to replace retiring U.S. senator Kay Bailey Hutchison.

The actual election is next Tuesday, July 31.
