This year marks the 50th Annual State Horse Show, and this is the 28th consecutive year Abilene has played host to the event. Boys and girls from all across the state take part in the horse show, as well as over 800 horses. However the event is not all about competition. For many it's about being part of a community that loves horses and the chance to reunite with fellow horse enthusiasts.
"This is what they shoot for, many of these kids just live year to year to come back to the state 4-H Horse Show," says Dennis Sigler, Show Manager of the 4-H State Horse Show.
Gary Potter, one of the official judges at the show tells us, "It represents a lot of hard work by a lot of people. You can see the sportsmanship and the showmanship involved in these kids. It just kind of does your heart good to know that there's still that kind of kids around."
The 4-H Horse Show will continue taking place in Abilene through 2013. Coordinators hope the show will return to the Big Country for the years to come.
