By: Homa Bash
Updated: July 30, 2012
A large grass fire in Shackelford County was contained late Sunday evening, according to Lueders Fire Chief Cory Lee.

Sparked Saturday afternoon, the fire burned between 4,500 and 5,000 acres of ranch land a few miles east of Lueders, owned by at least two property owners.

Most of the crews were sent home late Sunday night -- Texas Forest Service, Lueders & Shackelford Co. fire crews will remain on scene all night to monitor & mop up hot spots.

Fire crews from Albany, Anson, Hamby, Clyde, Throckmorton, Woodson, Stamford, Lueders and more battled high winds and heat as the fast-moving fire grew over the weekend.

No structures were lost and no injuries have been reported.
