Last night at about 9:55 pm, Sgt. Jason Haak, assisted by a K-9 officer, contacted a motorist in the 700 block of Merchant Street for a traffic violation. The vehicle was occupied with three male subjects. During this investigation the K-9 alerted on the vehicle for the presence of narcotics. The vehicle was searched and medications linked to subject one were found. Subject one did not possess a prescription for those medications. All the occupants of the vehicle were searched. Subject two was in possession of a switch blade knife. The investigation revealed that subject three had hidden the narcotic medication to avoid its detection. Subject one was arrested for felony possession of a controlled substance (oxycontin), subject two was arrested for misdemeanor possession of a prohibited weapon and subject three was arrested for felony tampering with evidence.
At about 3:00 this morning, Officer Rusty Antilley contacted a motorist in the 400 block of East North 8 Street because the motorist had just exited Stevenson Park which was closed at that time; a municipal code violation. A K-9 officer assisted in this traffic stop. During the investigation, Officer Antilley observed a plastic bag that contained a leafy substance and an off-white substance. The K-9 alerted on the vehicle for the presence of narcotics. The substance tested positive for cocaine. The subject was arrested for felony possession of a controlled substance (cocaine).
